I've been bad about posting please forgive me

I I'm Ello! So basically the title of this post is accurate because somehow I have failed to update this beautiful blog the last few weeks! Oops! To be honest, I've just been so distracted by thrift shopping, baking, my dogs, socializing with friends and watching TLC during during the day. Not quite sure if that's lame, but whatcha gonna do.

Adventure wise though, I've done a lot of things in my month at home. One thing that I always enjoy doing when I am home and have access to a kitchen is cooking and baking! My one friend and I made some insanely good garlic bread and watermelon muffins, and we took pictures of it, naturally.

Now is that bread aesthetically pleasing or what? I'm not usually one to brag about food that I make because generally it doesn't turn out that good, at least usually not photo worthy...but this actually did. And it tasted like pure heaven because it contained butter, cheese and garlic in a finite combination.

The watermelon cupcakes were a slightly more eccentric delicacy, but they tasted surprisingly good. If you like unique desserts, I recommend giving them a whirl.
Okay so this one isn't actually a photo of the pasta that we made...I just got it off pinterest..but me and Olivia made some pretty sweet bow tie Alfredo with chicken and broccoli. This fufilled our "fancy meal" off the bucket list. It was a beautiful day, and a tasty meal.

This is quickly turning into one of those food blogs so I've hastily thrown in a photo of me dancing with my dog so that we don't veer into that territory. Isn't she cute? And then we have my other dog staring out the window. They're more adorable than anything, ever.
On occasion, I also hang out with people and take photos of them like this. I'm actually kinda fond of this selfie because I think we look adorable! Happy birthday Andrew!

Besides my cooking and birthday shout outs, one spectacular event that occurred a few weeks ago was my friend Jess from school visiting CL! We hung out around town, visited Chicago, and she met my friends here which was SUPER cool. I'm actually going to make a separate post of our photo shoot in Milennium park but here's one of us by the bean.
Aren't we cute? 😁 it was so awesome to show her around good old Chicago land! Hopefully I didn't scare her too much and she'll come back.
Olivia and I have both recently taken up ukelele, so I felt this photo was appropriate. Love that little thing. My dog is afraid of it though!

Well, till next time!

Summer, Thrifting, and a Last Hurrah!

"Out on the verge of the rest of our lives tonight, top of the world and we're dressed to the nines tonight"
~The Verge, Owl City

Hello!

So I thought I'd make a tiny change here, and it's that I won't always title the posts with song lyrics, only sometimes! This is because sometimes the songs have nothing to do with the post, but I will always post a line from a song I've been listening to. I'm obsessed with this new Owl City song "The Verge", and it seems like a perfect graduation song! Although I'm not graduating till next spring, I love the feeling and some of my friends are graduating/already graduated this month, and I know that this song will definitely come around again this time next year for me!

I'm really enjoying summer so far. Despite having to work a lot, I am enjoying seeing my friends almost every night and not having many things to worry about! The weather has been bipolar lately (40 degrees yesterday?? Seriously??), but today was perfect. It's in the 60s and sunny right now, which is great because it's not too hot!

I love this outfit. Cecilia and I kinda went thrifting yesterday, and I got this top and shorts. I am obsessed. I've never really felt comfortable in a crop top, but I really like the way they look with high-waisted shorts! I am so glad I got these shorts; they're extremely comfortable and I feel like they will go well with many many things. You'll probably be seeing a lot of them this summer!

thrifted American Eagle top • thrifted shorts • thrifted shoes • thrifted Mossimo cardigan • Charlotte Russe sunglasses
Also, while we were thrifting, Cecilia and I donated lots of our old clothes. However, before we donated them, I thought it'd be fun to try to make outfits out of them, no matter how ugly! Believe me, I tried, but some of the clothes I found in my closet are really cringe-worthy, so prepare for some ugly outfits. Either way, this was really fun to do, and was a sort of last hurrah for these clothes before I got rid of them. Anyway, enjoy these interesting looks.

Well, that was really fun, and if/when I donate clothes in the future, I'll definitely do this again! Anyway, here's to a great rest of the week!

With love,
Olivia

How Much You Mean To Me

"If I wrote you a symphony just to say how much you mean to me, what would you do?"
~My Love, Justin Timberlake (I am obsessed with this cover by Humming House - check it out!)

Hello!

Not much really new to say, just that yesterday was pretty great. Cecilia and I went to the park with our friend Rami and took some adorable pics. I was really glad we got to take advantage of this nice weather before it gets to that point in the summer where it is unbearably hot and we won't wanna go outside! Cecilia and I then finished the night by meeting up with my friend Matt and playing hide and seek in Walmart then chilling for a few hours at the IHOP. It was a pretty lovely night, not gonna lie! Anyway, here are some of those cute pics we took!

I'm hoping the rest of the summer is just as nice and full of fun days like this! I just love my friends so much; they mean so much to me!

With love,

Way Up There

"Let's get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I"

~You and I, Ingrid Michaelson

Hello!

I apologize but I don't have an outfit post today, I've just been so busy lately! However, I will update today with just what's been going on in my life lately! Yesterday was my last day of classes for the year, and I could not be happier! One year down, one to go!!!! (for community college that is.) I had finals during the past week, and it was really stressing me out. It also sucked because all my friends got back from college, and all I wanted to do was hang out with them and not study or anything! I had so much to do and turn in and study for and I was just so ready to be done. And now, I finally am!

This is basically how I felt during the entirety of finals.

Besides finals, I did some interesting things lately! I started my first day at Bath and Body Works, which was okay. I was there till midnight last Sunday, and we made the new floor set. It took a lot of effort and time, and now I have a newfound respect for the people who work there; I never realized how much went into just setting up the store!

Also, I've been seeing a lot of Cecilia lately, which is great because she's going to be leaving at the end of the month and I won't get to see her very much during the summer. We went with a group of friends to Chicago (See her last post for deets) to see Book of Mormon and hang out! I also took some time to give her the grand tour of my school, and then we took a visit to our high school! It was nice to see our teachers and sit in on the Dramatic Lit class!

Visiting the high school!

I also went to see the spring play at the high school, which was A Wrinkle in Time, and let me just say it was LITERALLY the weirdest show I've ever seen. The first act was an hour and half long, and the second act was about twenty minutes, which was very bizarre. But that was nothing compared to the actual play. It started out somewhat normal, then turned into this strange acid trip with space travel, a white witch who turned into a black centaur, some weird demonic possession, a pulsating brain, these absolutely terrifying brown alien things, and tons of Hans Zimmer music (the only part I actually found myself enjoying...). It was ... interesting. Another show we saw was Wednesday night when we went to the Awards Ceremony at the school, which was like a beauty pageant type thing. A friend of ours was performing so we went. Overall it was pretty impressive and fun.

Waiting in line for the Awards Ceremony!

Another great day was Mothers Day (which was the day I went to work, but it was good before that too)! I went to my baby cousin's baptism, then to my grandmother's house to eat Chinese food from my all time favorite Chinese food place! My grandmother also has these really pretty flowers around her house, so I used my mom's awesome iPhone 6 camera to take some sick flower shots.

Pretty orchids!

Other than those things, I've just been hanging out with my friends! I want to spend the maximum amount of time with them while they're here because I missed them so much, and before long, they're going to be gone at school again.

Late night walks in this lovely weather are simply the best!

new painting I did recently!

Well, here's to a great summer! I'm so excited!

Chicago!

So yesterday I finally set off on my long awaited day trip to Chicago to see Book of Mormon with my friends! I knew that the musical would be great...but it actually far exceeded all of my expectations. Not only was it hilarious but it was so well done; I couldn't believe it! It's certainly not a show for the easily offended, but there were several times I was almost crying I was laughing so hard.
Aren't we such a cute bunch? I love all of these people so much. It's amazing how I can be away for so long and then come back and nothing changes. Although I stay in pretty frequent contact with all of them, I always really look forward to seeing and talking with everyone in person. I'm so happy that we were able to do this, and go big for our reuniting!
My birthday buddy and I displaying the copious amounts of swag that both of us carry. Shopping at it's finest!
Artsy pictures on the train are a must in Chicago. We are so, so, painfully basic.
But gotta love that twin charm.
Getting to see my pal and blog buddy Olivia was so awesome. Of course, we had to take our typical bean photo because that's just what ya do!
It was such a beautiful day to travel to the city too. We got really lucky with that, because you never know with the weather in Illinois! It's no upper peninsula, but it can get chilly. We walked around a ton, like we went to the Water Tower Place which is like 25 minutes away from the theater we saw Boom of Mormon at. I love malls and I don't have any in my college town!
All in all, it was an awesome time. I can't wait to go back into the city before I leave for my summer job at the beginning of June. I'm so thankful that I have such amazing friends, and this month is going to be great.
Till next time!
Cecilia
